The Menopause Friendly Accreditation was launched by Menopause in the Workplace Ltd in 2021. They’ve been providing specialist solutions for large and small employers in the UK, across all industries since 2016.

Since then, over 600 employers across the UK, Australia and the US have committed to being menopause friendly by joining The Menopause Friendly Membership. So you know you’re receiving tried, tested and trusted support.

2016

Breaking the taboo in the UK

2016 | Breaking the taboo in the UK

Our mission began in 2016 with breaking the menopause taboo in UK workplaces.

Building awareness through training in face-to-face, webinars and digital formats, the team have trained thousands of employers since then.

The UK has come a long way. Back in 2016 we couldn’t find any employer in the UK with a menopause policy, today research says that one in four now have one and nearly half of employers are taking positive action.

2021

Menopause Friendly United Kingdom 

2021 | Menopause Friendly United Kingdom

By 2021, a growing number of UK employers were taking action on menopause at work and The Menopause Friendly Accreditation was launched.

More than a tickbox, promise or pledge, this accreditation is the only independent accreditation for menopause at work and is considered to be the mark of excellence.

Since 2021, over 500 employers have started their journey and over 100 have achieved accreditation.

2023

Menopause Friendly Australia

2023 | Menopause Friendly Australia

In August 2023 Menopause Friendly Australia was launched.

By analysing what had been most helpful to employers in the UK and the specific needs of Australian employers, the membership programme and resources were adapted alongside the same tried, tested and trusted accreditation.

Workplaces in a wide-variety of industries have benefited from partnering with Menopause Friendly Australia to launch their menopause friendly initiatives, from ASX10 companies to purpose driven charities.

2024

Menopause Friendly New Zealand

2024 | Menopause Friendly New Zealand

Our expert, local team were formed and launched Menopause Friendly New Zealand in May 2023. 

With the same high accreditation standards and quality of resources, whilst appreciating the need for culturally appropriate and geographically relevant resources for the people of Aotearoa.

This reflects the traditional values of the ruahinetanga, where wahine were respected and honoured during this significant life stage, and sharing a vision of true gender equity.

Menopause Friendly United States

2024 | Menopause Friendly United States

Launched in 2024, Menopause Friendly US is powered by MiDOViA. 

As discussions around menopause gained momentum in the US, MiDOViA saw a crucial need for accountability. Committed to upholding the standards of a Menopause-Friendly employer, they introduced the esteemed accreditation program to the US market. 

This initiative expands on their core belief and shared vision of fostering accountability and creating supportive and equitable work environments. Recognizing that mere acknowledgment isn’t sufficient, MiDOViA emphasizes the necessity of taking actionable steps to drive impactful change.

Accelerating change in Australia and New Zealand

Menopause Friendly Australia was launched in August 2023, and Menopause Friendly New Zealand was launched in 2024.
